Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: the tiny USB reciever that snaps into the bottom of the mouse when not in used.

Weakness: none so far

I like this mouse. It is my second wireless notebook mouse after kensington.I would never buy kensington mouse again. Does not work very well. This microsoft wireless optical mouse is nice, small, use just one AA battery. The mouse features a L shaped USB RF receiver that snaps to the underside of the mouse when not in use, so you won't have to worry about losing it. Snapping in the tiny receiver also automatically shuts off the mouse to save the battery usage too!
The new Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse strikes a perfect balance between portability and use-ability. The mouse is small enough to be carry with you anywhere, yet big enough that it doesn't feel like a toy in your hands.

Nice little mouse

Strengths: Excellent battery life

Weakness: None that I could find

This is an excellent mouse for the price. Not too small and not too big, this mouse feels very comfortable in your hand. There are two different colors available: a slate color and a light blue color. For some reason, the light blue color mouse is $5 bucks more. The battery life is excellent and I've been using it approx. 3 - 4 every day. It needs 1 AA battery and I've been using an Energizer AA battery since day one. As with all optical mice, you need to put it on a surface where the optical light can be reflected back, i.e don't put it on a surface where the light from the bottom of the mouse can go right through. Works very well on all kinds of irregular surfaces, and an excellent buy for the price. Bought it for around 22 bucks from buy.com and I am very pleased with this purchase.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Price, optical, size. Smooth movement.

Weakness: The USB receiver is a little too big.

Overall, I like the mouse very much. The size is small enouth to carry but not too small to use. Movement is smooth and accurate within 6 feet. Only the USB receiver can be smaller. It is more then twice bigger then my bluetooth dongle.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Size, battery life, weight, portability, reputable brand, price, the usb snap-on on the bottom is a great feature.

Weakness: Form factor - don't use for more than a few hours at a time. It doesn't fit the hand too well, and probably shouldn't be used for desktop machines that gets daily usage. The USB connector is also big.

Not a bad mouse for it's price. Even though size is nice because it's portable, I wish MS had made it a little bigger so it would fit an adult hand well. It would be perfect for those with smaller hands. I also wish the scroll wheel was a little looser. Otherwise, it's a good product for a decent price.

its good when it works

Strengths: size, shape

Weakness: doesnt work all the time

I'm on an Apple 12" Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz. Maybe its not designed to work with my computer but it does say its compatible with Macs. Anyway, when i plug in the receiver, often times the light wont come on. Pressing the "connect" buttons on the receiver and mouse doesnt seem to do much either. i have to keep plugging it in and unplugging it between my 2 usb ports until the light finally comes on. Sometimes i'll be using the mouse and then leave my computer for about 5 minutes, when i come back the mouse is off and i have to do the unplugging/plugging back in ritual to get it to work again. Also the receiver gets in the way of the other ports because theyre lined up on the side of the powerbook. When it does work its fine, but im looking for a new mouse.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Great feeling of grip, freedom of codeless. moderate size (not too small, not to big)

Weakness: Somewhat high

At first, I was very satisfied with this mouse; great feeling of grip and freedom of wireless.
But, I had some pain on my wrist after using a day.
It might be somewhat high for my hand.

However, it became comfortable after several days. I love this mouse so much.

Great mouse!

Strengths: Size, good response, works well both on white and black surfaces, good battery life.

Weakness: LED light remain ON even when computer is off, minor interference with decals on the computer.

This is a great mouse - the size is just perfect - the bottom of my palm sits on the desk very nicely when the fingers are on the buttons. I also liked the nifty button for opening the top for battery replacement - very easy. The battery life seems to be great - I have been using it for the last 3 months without a replacement on a single AA battery. I like the way the transmitter stores in the bottom of the mouse. The mouse clicks also have good feel.

On the negatives, I don't like the size of the USB transmitter. I wish they had made it more compact or flush with the computer. I also ran into a minor annoyance with the decals on my laptop. When I use the mouse on the laptop surface, the plastic protectors at the bottom of the mouse interfere with the decals (by decals I mean the Centrino logo decal or the XP logo decal). I also don't like the fact that the mouse LED always remains ON unless you store the wireless transmitter in the bottom. Even though it remains ON, as I said before, the battery life has been great - so can't complain too much!

Love it!

Strengths: Signal, battery life, programmable scroll wheel

Weakness: none

I've had this mouse for over 2 months. I finally had to replace the provided battery (with average use of 1-2 hours per day). I wish there were a switch instead of having to remove the USB device in order to save battery-life. Otherwise, it's great!

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: stylish, small, great signal strength

Weakness: battery life

It is a great little mouse. It is very easy to carry around as the USB RF receiver snaps right into the bottom of the mouse and very convenient. Mouse shuts off when it is not in use, so I think the battery life will be good. Only drawback is the middle scroll wheel is kind of hard and makes it little difficult to scroll.

Great little mouse

Strengths: Small and wireless, battery lasts very long, takes only 1 AA battery, works on any surface, accurate , 3yr warranty. Comes with 1 AA battery. Shuts off when USB adaper stored under mouse.

Weakness: the USB adapter a slightly large, clicking noise when mouse wheel is moved up/down, no on/off button.

Got this mouse a few weeks back for my notebook. Seems well made, even though it's made in china. It's not as accurate as my corded optical mouse(seems like slight hesitation, very slight smoothness issues, which just take time to get used to), but it's very good. Small size is great. The USB adapter is a bit big, but I think it's because of the tilting for better reception. The little green light on the USB connector show's you it's working. The wheels makes quiet clicking noises when moved, which can be a bit annoying to some. I'm used to mice that don't make that noise at all. 3yr warranty tells you the producer is confident in the quality. Wondering why they didn't make a tiny on/off button somewhere. I think it goes into standby when not used for a while, but the optical sensor is still on, although in low power mode, which can somewhat drain the battery. Battery life is great though, still on the first battery for almost a month with hours of daily use. Overall it's a B+ due to a bit large USB connector and that clicking noises.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: it is just a wireless mouse.

Weakness: the receiver is kind of loose.

It is kind of expensive for a wireless mouse. It cost me $40 to buy at OD. I preferred Logitech wireless mouse. The receiver is kind of loose and I don't know the reason why it allow the user to turn vertically and horizontally.

The receiver swivels in a couple of directions so that you can adjust it to pick up the best signal from your mouse. Also, it lets you move it so you could plug another USB device if your USB slots are very close to each other, like on the back of a laptop.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Nice size, not big, and not too small. And works very well.

Weakness: The mouse scroll wheel is too stiff/clicky.

I haven't owned this mouse very long yet, but so far I really like it. I like its size, although it seems slightly bigger than I expected (I have small hands). But I like the feel of it very much.

I haven't had it long enough to comment on the batteries, but every review I have read brags on how long the battery lasts. So its most likely true. It uses 1 AA battery that many say lasts 3 months.

The only thing I really don't care about it is the stiff scroll wheel that makes slightly noisy click sounds when you scroll. It also did not come with any driver cd, and my laptop does not have proper mouse support because I don't have any place to choose the scroll option of scrolling one page at a time. I may try installing the Intellipoint software from Microsofts website.

The mouse otherwise is great. Having a cordless mouse is so much nicer than having a cord hanging around the laptop.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: comfortable, stylish

Weakness: none so far

This wireless mouse is great. The usb connector snaps underneath the mouse for storage is a very good idea. The mouse is very comfortable for small to medium size hands but maybe too small for large hands. The buttons and wheel on the mouse has a good feel to them. I had the targus wireless notebook mouse for over a year but this microsoft mouse just stomps it. Got this mouse for only 18.99 after $10 off coupon at Costco (sorry offer expired 6/19). It's still worth $29 if you need a good wireless notebook mouse.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: amazing attachment for switching power off to the mouse, very sleek for notebook. have received appreciation from lot of friends. really fits my hand even if it is small.

Weakness: mine did not go further than 5 feet, i dunno if thats a disadvantage as my TV is just 6 feet away from couch in case i wanna watch something thru laptop on TV.

i am very happy with this product. go ahead and njoy using this. really sleek and improves wireless usage. i have a usb hub so i use my mouse very often as i have connected the usb adapter on it, so this serves me great.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Battery Life, Size, USB receiver, Distance

Weakness: Only 3 buttons

I love this mouse! It has up to 3 months battery life, on just a single AA battery. It's wireless strength is better than most mice I have tried, performing at distances where others do not. The USB receiver snaps into the bottom of the mouse for storage, also turning off the mouse at the same time. The only thing I don't like about the mouse is the lack of back/forward buttons, but I'll get used to that.

The reception is so good and the battery life is awesome. It only uses 1 AA battery and can last for at least 3 months. It's definately worth the money and I highly recommended it.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Inexpensive, compact, light

Weakness: none really... doesn't come in black?

Awesome mouse! I've tried a few other "notebook" or "traveler" mice, and this one trumps them all... While other companies are striving to make theirs smaller, Microsoft makes one better... The tiny ones can't be used for extended periods of time, while this one can... also, this wireless solution, an awesome innovation with the reeiver snapping into the mouse when not in use, is way better than any wired mess, and cost is comparable. Get this if you can.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: This mouse is absolutely perfect for notebooks! It's light, fits in any laptop bag and works at least six feet away from my laptop. The integrated reciever is amazing!

Weakness: No side buttons, and does take a little time to get used to.

I love this mouse, despite the learning curve getting used to its size. It's a microsoft product, so you know if it ever dies, you can easily get it replaced direct through Microsoft. I would recommend this to anyone who hates the touchpad and like accuracy.

Strengths: Small, compact and portable

Weakness: none

It is small but still fits very well on my big hands. This mouse is very convenient and ergonomically designed to fit either hand (I use it on my left hand and I feel very confortable). Receiver snapping into the mouse makes it extremely portable.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: smooth responsive handling, light weight, extremely portable

Weakness: a little too small for those with big hands

I've had this model for 3 months now, and I love it. So much so, that I'm buying a second one as a present.

Microsoft mice are known for their precision and this one is no exception. Smooth responsive handling on virtually any surface, it is a truly welcome relief from the notebook touch pads. It is small, compact, light weight and portable. One battery seem to last quite a long time, especially if you turn it off when it's not in use.

The only complaint is that it is a little too small to be gripped comfortably if you have large hands. But other than that, it's definitely worth the money.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Great design, very light compared with other wireless notebook mouse, only use 1 AA battery and it lasts for a long time (>2 moths). The shape is great and it is neither too big nor too small.

Weakness: Only has 3 buttons, maybe 5 is better

This microsoft mouse is so suitable for travelling since it has a snap-in receiver, which does not take much space. The most important feature is that only 1 AA battery can last for quite a long time, and it is not heavy! I tried logitech wireless notebook mouse and felt it too heavy to use. I really like this mouse.

Strengths: Small, nice, fast.

Weakness: So far, couldn't find any yet!

It is a very nice mouse - small, cute and fast. The color of the actual mouse looks much more better than the one that show on the picture. No regret that I choose slate!

This mouse requires 1 AA battery.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Solid, not too small but small enough for notebook/laptop. seems sharp and no interference. snap in receiver. sharp looking.

Weakness: no on off switch other than snap in receiver. USB receiver seems loose and could break.

SO far, this product has been great. I needed it for a laptop as i tend to travel. however, i dont like the super mini mice out there as they break and seem to burn through batteries. this mouse seems strong and solid, only uses on AA battery and I am told it lasts. It has a USB receiver that snaps into the bottom of the mouse when not in use (and this turns off the unit). I wish it had a on/off switch in addition since occasionally, the snap-in doesnt fully snap-in and therefore does not turn off the mouse. it works great and on my three computers, using Win 2000 and XP, it worked immediately.

A bit expensive but i have a feeling you get what you pay for when it comes to mice.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Small and compact. Very sensitive. Good for travelling. Fits my large hand, other more compact mouse were too small for my hand. I like this one.

This Microsoft mouse is small, compact and is ideal for carryign with your laptop. Other more compact mouse's were not quite suitable for my larger hands. The cursor is very sensitive, something that I like. Though Microsoft indicates rebates from them may take 6-8 weeks to process, mine has already been processed within 2 weeks!

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: Compact but not too small, USB receiver stores in bottom of mouse, no drivers needed for XP.

Weakness: Subject to interference from unknown-- metal desk, transformer, lighting, wiring-- still can't figure it out.

Could not get this mouse to work at all on first try! I plugged the USB receiver into the port replicator for my Tecra 9000 laptop and the Hardward Wizard ran through its paces, but the pointer just sat there. After some experimentation, I found that there is some kind of interference around my office desk that leaves this mouse dead in the water unless I move it to a very specific place in front of the monitor, or use it on my thigh (under the metal desk out of sightline-- bizarre!). I tried with mouse pad and without, over the desk, under it, on top of my head (worked when standing up, not when sitting down). This is a standard office cube with wood and metal surfaces-- no glass, reflective surfaces, magnetic fields or surveillance equipment that I'm aware of.

I grabbed my colleagues for more testing and verified that the problem is my desk area, since a wireless Intellimouse Explorer and a Logitech USB wireless notebook mouse failed in the same way. We stopped short of creating a 3-D map of the interference field since we had to get some real work done. Looks like I'm stuck with wire in my cube for now.

After all that, I took the mouse home and tried it with my laptop all over the house. Worked like a charm everywhere. Whew! Not a wasted $30 after all. (Note that OfficeMax has it on clearance for $19 right now-- dang!)

I have small hands but have become very fond of the ergonomical if rather large Intellimouse Explorer, so I chose Microsoft's new notebook mouse when I needed a portable solution. It is much smaller than the Explorer but bigger than most notebook mice, mostly due to height. Fits my hand very well and seems more substantial than most other notebook mice.

I love that there is no cord. The USB receiver snaps into the bottom of the mouse to turn it off and for hassle-free storage/transport. The logo button on the mouse pushes in to release the topside battery cover so you can slide in one AA. There is a connect button on the USB receiver but you kinda have to know it's there since it looks like a plain green LED and is not easy to press.

The documentation with the mouse is generic except for a single sheet on changing the battery and placement of the USB receiver. No software included, but it loaded up fine in XP. I set my Toshiba mouse choice to simultaneous, which allows me to use the wired mouse at the office, hibernate the PC, then bring it up with the USB mouse at home.

Conclusion: If you use a consistent work area for your laptop, test with another wireless mouse before buying this one. If the mouse just stops working, try the connect button. If that fails, move everything a few feet away and maybe it'll start working. But you might want to check your room for bugs.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000

Strengths: The receiver pops into the bottom of the mouse when its not being used. This turns off the mouse, saving battery power, and keeps the entire product together so nothing gets lost.

Weakness: This is a minor weakness, but the mouse can become cumbersome if used without a mousepad on carpeting. The cavity used for storage of the receiver gets caught on the carpeting while moving the mouse.

Another strong addition to the already strong line of Microsoft optical mice. I've owned several Microsoft optical mice, and they've all functioned flawlessly--this one's no different. It builds upon the strong features of its past successes--accurate operation, comfortable grip, and a well-designed wheel. It requires no drivers and functions shortly after the receiver is plugged in. It's small, so it's not a burden in the small confines of a laptop bag. It requires only one AA battery (included) that's cleverly stored inside the mouse by popping out the top panel. My favorite feature is the receiver, which pops into the bottom of the mouse when it's not being used. This also turns off the mouse, so no unneccessary battery life is drained when the mouse isn't being used.

All in all, I think this is the best laptop mouse on the market--it's wireless, optical, well-designed, and functions excellently. It's also reasonably priced. If you're frustrated with cumbersome laptop touchpads and point-sticks, you will definitely want to consider this mouse.

Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse - Slate

Strengths: Good product

Good product overall!!! I definitely recommend for laptops or for desktops. Not too many problems installing, it picked it up almost instantly. The price was the thing that really had me interested in the product, that and the fact that it was a microsoft product.

Problems with mouse

Strengths: It's wireless...that's about it.

Weakness: Unreliable

After having this mouse for a year, the receiver stopped working. Microsoft sent me a replacement mouse without a problem (kudos to that at least). 2 months later, the replacement broke. They are sending me a 3rd now. Sheesh...I'm using a Logitech mouse next. I can understand maybe 1 breaking...but 2, in such a short amount of time?

Unreliable, at least, both of mine were. Maybe 3rd time's a charm here.
